Stereoscopic Images
for Parallel (SBS) Viewing
Here are included a selection of image pairs which should be reasonably easy to merge for people with
normal stereo acuity - resulting in the perception of a single image in depth. The pairs are first
presented for parallel (“orthoscopic” - normal) viewing.
Swiping the finger on the left hand of the screen leads to a switch of the images - right for left,
giving rise to a “pseudoscopic” view – one in which the world is “turned inside out” – that is, the
objects in the front in the actual scene now appear in the back. This can lead to very interesting visual
confusion because of what is called “cue conflict”.
Moving a finger around on the right hand side of the screen frees the images for change to their sizes
and positions so that the images can accommodate most different smartphone sizes.
